Tournament Rules

Divisions in the Tournament and Rules that will be applied:
U10 – U12 - Male and Female Teams, 8v8 Format, Round Robin, BC Soccer Small Sided Rules will be applied. Equal play for all players will be mandatory. NO jewelry will be in effect through the tournament.

U13 – U18 – Male and Female Teams, 11v11 Format, Round Robin, FIFA Laws of The Game will be applied in all games. NO jewelry will be in effect through the tournament.

Kootenay South Youth Soccer reserves the right to combine age groups of less than 4 teams in a division as required for all age groups, with the exeption of the 8v8 divisions, which will not be combined with 11v11 divisions.

Playing times for each division:
Length of halves to be determined based on numbers of teams and delays that occur. Kootenay South Youth Soccer reserves the right to change playing time as required to accommodate reduced daylight hours in September.

Points Award System:
The following system for points shall be followed through round robin play in all ages:
  • 3 Points for a win.
  • 1 Point for a tie.
  • 0 Points for a loss.
If a division is tied after Round Robin Play, the following shall be applied:
  1. Head to Head Results.
  2. Goals Against.
  3. Goals For.
  4. Number of Red Cards.
  5. Number of Yellow Cards.
If still tied, kicks from the Penalty Mark will be done to decide a winner.

Decisions of the referee of any match will be final.

Age Groups and Fields:
The tournament schedule will be provided closer to the tournament date.
Kootenay South Youth Soccer reserves the right to change playing locations based on teams entered into the tournament, age divisions that might be combined.

Discipline:
U10 there will be no cards issued throughout the tournament.
U11 – U18 Yellow and Red Cards will be used as applied by the referees according to the Laws of the Game for Small Sided and FIFA. Referees’ decisions will be final in all cases.
  • 2 Yellow cards in one game equals 1 red card: player will miss next game.
  • 3 Yellow cards accumulated through the tournament: player will miss next game.
  • 1 Red card: player will miss next game and depending on the referee report, that player may be required to miss more games. When the Red card is issued, the team will be notified at the field of the player missing the next game. If, in the opinion of the referee, missing more games is warranted, the referee will contact the tournament discipline committee by cell phone and the committee will determine how many games the player must miss. This committee's decision will be relayed to the team through the Head Referee for each field.
 
Any team official ejected by the referee in any game will miss their team’s next game. Team officials ejected from their game must leave the field of play as directed by the referee. At the time of the ejection the team official will not be allowed to join the spectators’ side of the field. The team official that misses their next game will not be allowed to join the team for warm up or take part in the game in any matter. Provided that, in the opinion of the referee, the team official is not coaching from the side lines or giving instructions during the suspended game, the team official may join the spectator’s side of the field. The suspended team official will remain in the team official colors for identification to the referee who they are on the spectators’ side. If in the opinion of the referee or assistant referee, there is coaching occurring, the referee, at their discretion, will either warn or ask that team official to leave the field of play for the remainder of the game.

Team Rosters:
Each Team will have their rosters prepared and ready for the referee to review and keep during the game. This roster will be returned after each game by the referee listing the score, cards (if any issued). Please list all players and substitutes and team officials on the roster.

Standings & Medals:
U10 – U18 divisions will have standings for both Males and Females located at the field for each division as required. Medals will be awarded for Gold, Silver, and Bronze if there are more than 5 teams registered in a division and Gold and Silver if there are fewer than 4 teams in a division.

KSYSA reserves the right to modify any of the above as required.
